quiet little trees

quiet little trees
6 x 6 acrylic, pencil, paper on wood

these quiet little trees arrived when i was so tired, i just wanted to go to bed.  they brought joy to my sleepy eyes.  little pink showing thru, i love it!  this 6 x 6 is the perfect size to get thru a painting at the end of a chaotic day.  who needs ice cream to get thru when i can paint another little delight?  enjoy!

owl in the garden

i kept wanting this little painting to be a certain way and the colors wouldn't cooperate.  i scrapped some of the unwanted color off and added more white and in the last moments, i fell in love!  the color is rich and exciting and is just perfect.  this lonely little owl keeps coming back.

little fawn

my color pallet seems to reflect the season.  can't get enough of this yellowy green.  this little fawn appeared in my painting again last night, stopping in to say hello.  i tend to paint the same little beings over and over again, getting to know them intimately, falling in love with them.  this little one definitely has my heart.

another wheelbarrow.  this one is slightly different personality.  a bit more tired..  love working on printed paper.  it is fun to have the little flowers shine through the paint.

little owl in a collage

my first collage in a long time.  i found this paper today and was inspired to add it to my painting.. starting with a light background is different for me.  i just love bringing light into the dark, i leave just enough of the dark coming through to make the light shine.  if i loose that perfect shine, my devotion to the painting shifts.  here i made the shift.  hence the lack of excitement at the finished piece.

oliver, my 3 year old, requested the owl weeks ago.  i thought it was very appropriate since we hear an owl often whoooing in the wee hours.  still in awe that my paintings have become so whimsical.  i am thoroughly enjoying myself!

first daily painting

little flowers over fawn
12" x 12" acrylic on wood panel
here it is, i did it.  my first daily painting.  inspired and ready for the next 364 days!  i will keep you posted...  i am also working on getting my etsy shop up and running.  figuring out the details..  postage, packaging, making prints of my work..  it should be up in the next week or so!  then my paintings will be for sale online!

welcome!

here are a few of my latest paintings.  i am starting to create a daily painting.  i am inspired by marisa haedike and her years of creating daily paintings.  i just participated in our local open studio tour and thought, next year i will show my daily paintings from july 2009 to july 2010.  so here i go..  i will give it a try and post the paintings as often as i can (letting the laundry go if need be!)  hope you enjoy!
